| We need a tech article for the XJ suspension packages I have been looking for a long time at the comparisions(Rubicon Express, Clayton, Rough Country). But want is the real world difference say between CEG's 4.5's and his brothers Clayton kit. This will be a daily driver build for my 01' but I am up in the air with what lift? |

IMO: the real world difference between the two is that the Rough Country lift will leave over a $1000 in your pocket over buying the Clayton.
More seriously the Clayton kits move the control arm mounts off the weak XJ "frame" and puts them on a custom and very heavy duty cross member. This is a pretty serious advancement between the lift kits that leave the control arm mounts in the factory locations.
However: If you don't have the welding skills or know someone that can weld really good... then I recommend you stay away from the Clayton's.
I'm going to add frame stiffeners to my XJ and keep the Rough Country control arms in the stock location. I might add the drop brackets but not sure yet. _________________ Ron Dunn Jr

Another XJ winch bumper option:
Similar to the one above but this one doesn't have the sides/ends on it that wrap around the fenders. _________________ Ron Dunn Jr

Rough Country expands its selection of XJ suspension lift kits with several new Long Arm options. The new kits are available in 4.5" and 6.5" configurations or as an upgrade to take your existing short arm kit to the next level. These trail ready kits were designed with great features that include: high clearance Y-link front design, rebuildable X-flex joints, heavy duty control arm mounting crossmember, heavy duty transfer case skid plate, front adjustable trackbar, and high performance 2.2 shocks for a great ride. Each kit includes new full spring packs; the 4.5" kit has an add-a-leaf and shackle option. As always, all Rough Country kits include their 100% satisfaction guarantee and "If you have a problem, we will fix it" warranty.
Available in:
Perf689 [4.5" kit w/ AAL and shackle] - $1,099.95
Perf686 [4.5" kit w/ rear springs] - $1,199.95
Perf672 [6.5" kit w/ rear springs] - $1,249.95

This is what I would like to build next:
Either BLACKED OUT or WHITED OUT with the Rough Country long arm kit!
Must be 1997 or newer, or I will take the front end off a 1997 and newer to put on a 1996 and older. _________________ Ron Dunn Jr
