The Samurai was never sold with a full time 4wd option but the SJ410 was. SJ410 drive flanges can be used on the Samurai. This kit includes SJ410 drive flanges, new inner gaskets, snap rings, and dust covers.

A pair of replacement locking hubs will cost nearly 3x more than this drive flange kit. With no moving parts, drive flanges are stronger than locking hubs and require no maintenance.

Are drive flanges right for you?

We want to be clear, these are not for everyone. If your Samurai is driven on the street you will want selectable locking hubs to disengage the front axle to reduce vibrations. With a full time 4wd conversion, the front axle shafts, ring and pinion gears, driveline, and some t-case parts will spin whenever the front wheels are rotating. Samurais have a poor front driveline angle which is usually made worse after lifting. This is normally not a major problem because the front driveline is only used at slow speeds but can become a headache at high speeds.

Steering is more difficult with a front locker when the hubs are locked in. Despite what some claim, this is true to some degree even in 2wd. With hydro-assist steering installed we do not notice a difference in steering difficulty; with standard power steering however, we prefer to unlock hubs until 4wd is needed.

For the Samurai that sees almost exclusive trail use, drive flanges are simple to install, inexpensive, and durable. If you have been leaving your hubs in all the time and finally snapped a hub gear this kit is a must have.

These also make excellent trail spares. When turning tall tires behind low gears, stock drivelines become the weak link. One solution is to use Toyota Pickup drivelines instead. Even if you have to have the Pickup shafts shortened, this is still a more economical alternative to custom-made drivelines. This option is especially appealing to anyone doing a Toyota axle swap. In that case, you likely have the driveline that came with the axle and will only need to adapt it to fit the Samurai t-case.

Nearly every 84 and up Toyota truck driveline, with the exception of the 2007 and up Tundra, uses one of only five common bolt patterns. The PentAdapter allows a driveline with one of those patterns to bolt directly to a Samurai t-case or pinion flange. Early small flange Samurais with 8mm bolts require drilling to install. Lucky for you, we include the correct drill bit with every kit. Large style Samurai and Sidekick flanges can be used without modification.

The PentAdapter is also useful when interchanging Toyota drivelines between Toyota trucks. There are so many combinations of patterns used on these trucks that you almost never know what pattern you will find until you measure it. Some patterns are impossible to find when you need them. Thanks to the PentAdapter, you don’t have to search for the perfect driveline.
Bolt Patterns:

56.1mm x 56.1mm

70mm x 61.5mm

68.3mm x 60.1mm

66mm x 66mm

60.1 x 60.1mm

56.1mm x 52.5mm

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0817/3135/4933/files/Samurai_Toyota_Driveshaft_Adapter_sdt-tdah.webp?v=1748454677
driveshaft-flange-1988-5-1995-suzuki-samurai-low-range-off-road
Driveshaft Flange 1988.5 - 1995 Suzuki Samurai Low Range Off Road

Low Range Off Road is your source for all Suzuki Samurai Driveshaft Components and parts.
